The Cultural Events Committee considers and approves events which shall fulfill the cultural events requirement. This committee is subordinate to the Academic Council and reports at least once annually to the General Education Curriculum Committee.

The Provost of the University appoints a Chair and five other faculty; the Dean of University College, and a representative from Records and Registration serve as nonvoting, ex officio members. Membership on the committee shall be for staggered two-year terms, and the Chair is appointed for the duration of his or her term. The Chair of the Council of Student Leaders appoints two students, each for a one-year term.
